Hot & Spicy

So, Ms. N loves spicy food! I don’t know if it has anything to do with me eating all the tasty, spicy creations of Will’s while pregnant, or just her inheriting mostly his genes?
My now 20 months old baby girl will eat jalapeno filled guacamole, “red hot organic blue” chips or just plain hot sauce like there is no tomorrow. What’s totally interesting is that it does “hurt” her taste spots on her tongue but she just keeps going. She seems to literally just rub it off. Yes, rub it off with her fingers while her other hand is reaching for more. She also learned that drinking milk really helps when it burns the most.
I also could not believe that even without ever telling her she started using HOT!! While eating something spicy. I don’t know if she thinks of it as the same sensation in her mouth but she uses hot for both spicy and hot as warm.
She seems to amaze me every day. I no longer can keep up telling you all about the new words or sentences she uses. She observes people around her as if she is getting ready to assume multiple aliases to carry out some mission.
My mission lately is to keep her from constantly hurting herself. I guess a little “Nikita” comes into action. Her motions are unpredictable and fearless. I use the word motion to describe exactly what I mean. Motion in physics mean: continues change in the location of the body!!! Exactly.

Strong personality...really?

Ms. N is really approaching those "terrible twos" age. She is becoming more and more independent (or at least trying), she has more and more tantrums and really just becoming a bit annoying. I know all toddlers go through this stage, but my question is: "Can't we just skip it?"
Lately our days are more like a roller coaster. I am not trying to complain or anything. Reality is that she has better days more often than bad days.
She also has no problem communicating her feelings to us. She just starts crying when she is sad(or worst case scenario she throws herself on the ground), she smiles when she is happy, she claps and praises herself when she is excited and so on...
There are time outs and temper tantrums and flying food and hair pulling in our life. Did we miss the sign? How did we turn on this road?

While shopping for new shoes (don't say anything!) this little maybe 3 year old girl came up to Naddie.

Me: Can you say hi?
N: Hi!
Me: Can you waive to her?
N (to the little girl) : No! Go a way!

I would like to think she was just protecting her new found shoes!

4th of July Weekend

We had a 4 day weekend with lots of outdoor activities, food, good friends & family, lots of music & a pinch of water activities.
Naddie got to see the Main street parade for the second time and the fire works, also for the second time. Spent some time on the beach over the weekend and she got to visit Forrest’s & Evelyn’s home where she played some music instruments and had a song sang to her. As you might have guessed the song was about her.
She has been practicing her new groovy dance moves every day and also learned to spin and make herself dizzy which seems to really amuse her.
On Sunday she invaded this little 6 year old boy’s bouncy house that his parents rented for his birthday and ended up setting it up front of our house on the lawn. Naddie had so much fun in it, never mind what everyone else had to put up with for her 15 minute fun. How bad is this? I did not even catch the little boy’s name. She is making really good friends with Amanda and would not let her be while we were at the beach. Will & I call Amanda the “shinny new toy” or the “new best friend” of Naddie’s. Just think of how invasive and clingy kids can be, double that, and you get a “Naddie around Amanda”.
Naddie also learned how to diaper her stuffed animals (Teddy & Bunny) and how to check if they are wet. Let’s just say I should look into reusable diapers for these little creatures or it will be an expensive game.
