STOMP

Another week is gone, and another weekend has ended.
This week Naddie’s daycare has called me twice in a row.
Once on Tuesday to see if I knew that she had some sort of scratch around her belly button. No, I did not know. I think it has happened while she was playing outside at the center. The second call came the following day. She was bitten by another little girl who did not want to share the “tree house” outside and wanted Naddie gone. Apparently my little girl got very upset and did not understand what happened. Her daycare providers had a talk with her to let her know that she did not do anything wrong and that biting is not OK and that it is fine to feel sad.
I must say I love the fact that they pay so much attention to them.
This Saturday we spent some time on the beach again and Sunday we took another hike with Molly and Gramps JR.
This time I pushed Naddie in her stroller as it is made for off road. I think she likes to be carried more than pushed. She also walked a little, but we had to end that after a little while or we would’ve slept with some big cats in the wild.
She also starting to say ME and MINE a lot. She is very much aware of what is hers and what she can do. OH, and she is stumping when she gets frustrated. First I thought it was funny but I know we have to let her know that it is not ok.
Could it be that she is practicing for the show STOMP??????

Nature vs. Nurture

I always thought that if I ever had a girl she would be very much like me.
After Naddie was born and in the first year of her life I had to get used to the idea that she did not look anything like me and her developing personality reflected more of Will’s than mine. Don’t take me wrong, I think it is a great thing, but a mother would love to see some of her characteristics in her one and only first born than just NOTHING!
So I thought maybe she will be just like I was as a toddler. I was more of a tomboy than a girly girl to my mom’s enjoyment, as I am sure she always wished for the opposite.
I guess life also plays some pranks on us to have a good laugh.
Our little girl is becoming as girly as one can be.
She absolutely loves shoes! I do have to admit that I feed that a little bit by buying great little shoes on a very frequent basis.
She just loves to put them on and then show them off to whoever will pay attention.
She will put her little foot out and than move it from one side to the other like adults do when they are buying a new pair and checking them out before the big decision: “Do I really need them?”
Naddie is also obsessed with jewelry. She will make me take my watch or my bracelet off and put it on her little wrist. She is so proud when she wears them. She acts like she is very busy, busy showing it off.
She also picks her clothes out in the morning. We just need to work on the coordinating factor a little bit.
So the girly girl is changing every single day.
She also picked up some new words and sentences:
~ Doggie
~ What’s up?
~ Pizza
~ Pelenka (diaper in Hungarian)
~ Jib-Jab (she must have picked that up at day care)
~ Thank you
~ Humpty Dumpty
~ Dedi (great grant parents in Hungarian)

Just an ordinary day

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle

We have kicked off April with a great big hike with gramps JR. & Molly.
As it is earth month and I want to mention a few things we have been doing and hopefully teaching Naddie and you (reader) too.
As of this weekend we are going to be hiking every Sunday to expose Naddie to nature as much as we can and hopefully start a tradition.
I have become obsessed with any and every bottle that can be returned for exchange of the refund. We really don’t drink any sodas so our bottles are limited to OJ and some fizzy H2O and the occasional beer. The money I get when I return the bottles goes to Naddie’s “future” fund.
I also should mention that we are raising her without bottled beverages. She gets about one cup of juice a day, which is her OJ in the morning in her cup, and the rest of the day she is drinking tap water only.
We did not do reusable diapers, but I am happy to say that Naddie will be off of using the disposable ones fairly soon seeing as she has been fascinated with the potty. She has learned to flash the toilet about a month ago and she actually did poop in it this last week. I have not been trying to potty train her it just happened. Right place at the right time.
Will and I have been reusing our shopping bags but we really need to get better about that!
We have kicked our starbucks habit and we make our coffee at home and if we take it with us we put them in our mugs.
We have been really good about buying local and visit the farmers market almost every week to purchase our produce from local farmers.
I really could go on but this gives you some ideas how to contribute to make mother earth a better place for our children! They deserve it!!!!

Duck in the water, quack, quack, quack!

Naddie had her first two days at daycare. She started on Thursday and she knew as I was getting her settled in the “Young ones” room that something was going on and she got really clingy. She screamed when I told her that I had to leave. She cried on and off throughout the day, refused her lunch and milk but later she ate her afternoon snack. She also kept waiving and blowing kisses in hope to leave.
I was told that her teachers are very impressed by how many words she knows and how much she talks. The second day went a lot better, she made some friends and she played the whole time and ate her lunch.Today we had breakfast at this mom and pap place in the park and fed some pretty friendly ducks. Naddie did not want to leave until the ducks became very close friends with her. RUN NADDIE RUN!!!

Working Girl

So, Naddie will be in day care by the end of this week.
I got a job as a Sales & Catering manager at a company called Guckenheimer.
It seems to be a great opportunity for me so I have decided to pursue it.
I already know that it will be a very hard transition for both Naddie and I.
For now she will be going back to the same daycare provider where she was in Vancouver but I found an amazing Montessori school for her. They do not have availability until August but we are putting our application in and some $$ to get the next spot. I do have to say that it is the very first center where I saw quality child care provided. If you are interested here is a link to their website:

Luckily I will have three days with her as most Fridays I do not have to work.As I said this decision came after long a careful consideration and I truly believe it will be the right one in the long run.
